Carbon Fiber/ The new fingerprint magnet
What is it about Carbonfiber people just have to touch it? I spend at least an hour before each show polishing and scrubbing and by the time a show is over my hood looks like I was just in a 24 hr off road race. I can see the fascination but you would think it obvious you can't feel the weave but they just can't help themselves. I'm usually hovering around the car for questions that get asked as most other car show folks are. Ask, don't touch! Some of the kids catching hell from parents have better car show edicate then the parents when it comes to respecting another persons car. If I go for something to eat or drink and come back everything that isn't screwed ,bolted or glued down is shuffled around in my hatch. Respect another car fanatics ride and look, don't touch!

Yeah, I can relate a little I guess. I really don't care much for show, I care more about performance. My M.A. Shaw GTR Carbon Fiber Hood is made of real Composite Carbon Fiber and only weighs a meager 10lbs. It's double vented on both sides to allow for maximum cooling to the engine bay and gets that cool air coming into the ram air intake for maximum air induction performance. As far as looks, yeah... I never put a clear coat on it either. Perhaps I should have considering I spent $1,200 for it. Finger prints, please. LOL. HAHAH!!! thats the least of my concerns. Oh no, hey kid!!! you put a print on my hood!! hahaha!!! No, it gets the job done and serves it purpose does it not? If there is no purpose and no point to it then I deem it pointless and a waste of time. Show cars are good to look at and all... but i'd much rather go to the track, any day.

However, I do think Carbon Fiber does somehow attract marks and dirt of all sorts... all on its own with no help. LOL!!! that includes bird crap!!! Nothing new there. :)

Preaching to the choir! Yeah I have the same experiences with the hood I have on my RX8. I purchased a SEIBON hood which is just a fiberglass hood with a carbon fiber sheet as an overlay and then that gell used for clear coat. People are always touching the hood.
Thankfully I had the hood covered with 3m clearbra to prevent the clear coat from fading. This also doubles as a protector of the clear coat from scratches and rocks. Touch the hood all you want! Just wipe off your prints please!
Yes, there seems to be a real issue with some people in regards to car shows. They view the event as an amusement park ride where they can sit and try every car that is on display. When I do events at Mazda dealerships, I often have to stick a "look but don't touch" magnet to the car which people still miss.
Hell, I found a couple sitting in my car once. Did you not see that there are PLATES on the car?
Other people will open my doors when they are closed, close them when they are open etc. etc. One friend had a kid run his finger along the paint from front to back. When he yelled at the kid the kid's father got in his face saying if he didn't want the car touched to not show it.
The nerve of some people. It's like going to check out someone's house and eating out of their fridge and sleeping in their bed.
