Ford making interesting moves
I've been browsing the autoblog checking out some of the newest changes in the automotive world. I couldn't help but notice some interesting developments from Ford these days. Perhaps it's just the changing tide, perhaps the American automaker is pulling out all the stops.
First, the new Ford Flex appears to be going after the Scion XB. While I can't find any specific information on this vehicle, it looks like Ford is going for a totally different design than in the past.
Ok, so you're probably asking how unique can a box shaped car be right? Well, it seems you're either going to love this car or hate it. It's clearly a family hauler but despite it's square appearance (no pun intended) it's still much different than the typical taurus or escort type of styles we have seen in the past. Despite the box shape being overtaken by the Scion XB, it's a new look for Ford.
Also, just when you thought that the Mustang couldn't get any better, there's serious talk about the new version of the Mustang coming in 2010 to be avaliable with a 5.0 L motor. No word on whether or not there would be any forced induction involved but performance numbers around 400 hp and around 398 torque have been seen. While there's no details on the specifics of the motor design, it can only be assumed that the design will be based of of the modular 4.6L V8 currently being used. It's possible the 5.0L could be avaliable with only special editions or even as popular as the GT.
Either way, expect some interesting things coming out from Ford.
