About Me
Hi! My name is Russ, and I am a Capri Enthusiast! Not sure exactly how that happened, as I have always been into the muscle cars - Mopars, Big Block Chevys, Old Fords. Had a 73 Challenger for a number of years that I just loved. My Girlfriend has a 72 Roadrunner now, that she works on periodicly. Something about these little 1.6 Liter, turbo charged Pocket Rockets stuck, though, as now we have 15 of them. My 3 year old Daughter evens owns her own Capri (profile ID: SarahCapri).
This particular Capri is my baby! I love it enough to attempt to start a business with it, Roo-Sport.com('Roo', as in Kangaroo, as these cars were built in Australia). Although currently a holder page, we are in the process of building a website were Capri fans can get inexpensive replacement parts, as well as some new and exciting custom designed styling pieces, and parts to soup up the normally anemic 135 HP stock B6T motor.
Drop me a line, and say "HI", and wish me luck as I embark on this adventure known as "Car Enthusiast"!
Remember, ALL of the mods done to this car were done by me. There is very little, if any, aftermarket parts made for this car!
THANK YOU!!

General Vehicle Comments 8/9/09:
It's been 6 months since I've had the time to update this page! A lot has happened to the "Super Roo"! The new engine was installed, and with twice the horsepower as a stock engine, this baby SCREAMS!! With the addition of the VJ11/14 hybrid turbo, and the Rocketchip ECM upgrade, I find I want to drive this car more than any other vehicle in my stable!
The interior was given an overhaul, with the addition of Dynamic Auto Design Racing seats. A custom made roll bar was also added, adding some rigidity to the car, as well as bumping up the safety factor a notch!
There are still many more mods planned for this little Australian import, and I hope to keep this profile a little better updated than I have previously!
02/03/09 :
Since my last update, I've obtained a VJ11/14 Hybrid turbo, and a two stage manual boost controller. The 323 engine has not been installed yet, as we have to work out of an unheated barn, and it's just to damn cold! It's ok, though, as we can spend more time going over the engine, and getting more parts to install in the Spring. I also hope to have the car painted before the engine goes in, and we've been trying to decide on the body shop to do the work. I've also decided to try working with carbon fiber, and will attempt to make some interior parts, like door panels, center console, and perhaps some dash bezels. I will also be installing my new DAD Motorsports racing buckets, and a set of 4-point harnesses.
I just got back from Texas with a parts car I bought, and will also be installing the Toxico adjustible struts that came on it.
New in the parts design area is the headlights I have designed for this car. They will be fixed (not pop-up, like the current ones), and help to remove over 26 pounds off the front of the car. 90mm Hellas set in a sleek, aerodynamic carbon fiber housing. I'm really excited about these, and can't wait for the warmer weather to get this project started!
10/05/08:
Wow! It's been a while since I've even logged in here, let alone added to this page! A lot has occurred since my last log-in, namely, the car has been been down for almost 6 months with a blown engine! (Note to self: NEVER let your friends borrow the car when the water pump is leaking!!) After a hard drive with a leaking water pump, the head and block both warped beyond repair. While deciding how much money I wanted to throw at the car, I stumbled across a Mazda 323 GTX for only $800 in the same town I worked in. The 323 was built for ice racing, and was sporting a 246HP B6T, that had just recently been spun on the dyno, so I know the figures are correct! Since the original B6T in the car was only around 150HP, I jumped on this deal!
We currently have the engine out of the 323, and are going over it carefully. I had gotten a head reworked (P+P, 3 angle valve job)before I found the 323, and we will install this on the new motor. I also picked up a RocketChip, from RocketLabs, and will have that installed shortly, as well as one of their custom made Intercoolers!!
The "HalfSprint" tail light panel (it's current name! Check out my pictures and help me come up with a good name for it!) is installed and custom bubble LED lights have been installed. The world's only fiberglass Capri hood is made and will also be installed shortly. The rest of the goodies I have planned will probably have to wait until Spring, as I have to work in an unheated barn! |
