About Me

hi, im JT. and im 19 living in winchester
Mass. i work at an autobody shop, i like to go to shows and cruises. im am interested in pool, basketball, hockey, very outgoing. i just bought a 05 tib, and love the car. i hoping on finding people with tibs, or other cars and maybe get a car club going or join an existing one. i have a lot of plans for this tib. i like to paint, i can almost paint anything that is thrown at me. nitrous bottles, calipers, interior trim, valve covers etc. design is a big thing with me, same with performance. so far i have customized a 93 buick roadmaster station wagon, i called it the draggin wagon. and my last project was a 1992 accord. i have always been into cars and wouldn't pass an oppurtunity to work on them either. well customization work anyways.
General Vehicle Comments
i call my tib Madison, but it has wolf on the back window. i bought her in July of 07. and glad i did.

update NOV 25,2008
as i have it, i am changing the direction of the tiburon. i ran in the SCCA autocross event at devens airfield, and i have finally found the tibs calling. I know the tib is the most unusual of platforms, and very frustrating at that. but this car takes corners like a champ. never really meant to go fast in a straight line, running 15.2 NA on the quarter mile, i am not about horse power ( even though having a beefed up car is enticing) for a number of reasons, i am investing my money into tires, brakes, weight reduction, suspesnion, and more tires.

autocross: the process of beating the clock to get the best time in an obstacle course. one car on the track at a time. you must go through slaloms, off sets, and gates. cones act as a penalty if hit.

Time trials- multiply cars on the track for the best time, passing does occur and sometimes results in clipping (penalty) and off course (penalty) so you have to be sharp.

Wheel to wheel: like grand touring this is an intro to racing. you must gain a novice permit to race in this series, and like a race you have a placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc) you must come in first to win the race. overall it is a race with laps, and multiply cars on the track.

to be short and sweet this car's (tiburon) purpose is to become a track car, race car to be blunt.

Actually, no. Believe it or not, that is what I had to go through to install my Cold Air Intake! It was a major pain in the ass. Don't even ask about the headers.

The winter shouldn't be too bad for you. The Tibs are relatively high off the ground. If you had a body kit, then you'd have a problem, but I think you'll be fine. Especially if you have ABS and/or TCS. I don't have either and that kinda sucked, too. I actually slow-mo crashed. I was on my way out of my subdivision, going like 2 mph and I touched my brakes barely and it slowly brought my rear end around. I did like a 360 and ended up just barely sitting on a snow drift. No damage, but I looked like a jackass. lol While I was spinning, I was just like...this is retarded, I'm pissed. lol

Yeah, I only drove my Tib for one winter. That was a bad idea. We happened to get a lot of ice that year too. The body kit took some damage. I am not making that mistake again. That is why I have my GTP. But yeah, it was actually snowing today. I remember that winter, we got out of school early and I got stuck in a lane because I couldn't get over and a pretty big snow pile was coming up and it hit the body kit. It didn't sound too nice, but it didn't to a terribly large amount of damage.

Yeah, I know all about paint prep and stuff. I used to work at an autobody doing nothing but paint prep. I am going to redo and reinforce my body kit this winter.

Yeah, I like them. When you get chrome rims, they shine so much better to. I don't know if you are looking for chromes at all, but I'm just saying based on first hand experience. lol. How did you prep your brakes? I got some laquer thinner and some steel wool and cleaned them with that. It worked really well and the paint stuck well. We did a friend of mine's and I think he touched one of the calipers after I cleaned it because no paint stuck, it just rolled off because of the oil the body makes.
